Everything Is Coming Up Roses for LHS Band Leader at the Rose Bowl

Eva Nguyen, Reporter

This year, when you are watching the annual Rose Bowl Parade, be sure to watch for a little bit of LHS in Pasadena.

LHS Band Director Bobby Bergeron will be representing Leominster in the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California, on January 1, 2022, at 11 a.m. EST and can be watched from your homes live on channels ABC and Hallmark.

The Tournament of Roses Parade will feature 270 band directors from across the country who will escort a rose float in the parade. To have a chance to participate in the parade, there was an application to be filled out online. Bergeron had filled out that application two years ago. He recalled that he had “applied at a LHS basketball game.”

This special “Band Directors Marching Band” was planned for New Years of 2020. Due to covid, the parade was pushed to 2022.

Every float in the parade is made up of roses. The band directors were asked to dedicate a rose on the float to an individual who helped make them who they are as band directors.

When asked about his process of choosing who to dedicate his rose to, he said, “It was quite easy.” His rose will be “dedicated to the amazing staff and students of Leominster High School. Go Big Blue!”

Bergeron has been working as a band director at Leominster High School since 2019 and was previously the band director at Sky View Middle School for one year in 2018.

Tune in to see Bergeron and many other band directors from across the country at the Pasadena Tournament of Roses on January 1, 2022, at 11 a.m. EST.
