Valedictorian Minh Vu Headed to MIT

Isabella Nevard, Reporter

As Leominster High School prepares to send off a whopping 455 seniors this June for graduation, Minh Vu will be recognized as the top student in his class.

He will be walking the halls of MIT next year after a senior year that saw him taking 5 AP classes and 2 honors classes, finishing his senior year with a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Minh took a multitude of courses, but mentions that AP Calculus, AP Chemistry, and Honors US History with Mr. Barnaby was among his favorites.

Minh mentions that this year was more difficult, but worth it.

With such a heavy course load he joked,  “Senioritis can affect even the best of us it appears.”

When asked about his feelings towards this prestigious honor, Minh said, “A lot of my friends and family had expected me to be valedictorian, so it feels good to vindicate them. The thing I look forward to the most is my graduation speech.”

Just like all other graduating seniors, Minh formed many friendships,  like Gray Dallaire, Jack Dotson and Soon Thao, and he has been Class Treasurer all 4 years.

Minh thinks that Leominster should keep the competitive ranking system because it pushed him and his peers to strive for success.

For Minh, graduating from Leominster High School means he is one step closer in his plans to pursue either biological or chemical engineering at MIT.

Aside from his diligent academic efforts, Minh enjoys running, playing video games, and doing math in his free time.

When asked where he sees himself in 10 years, Minh pictures himself working in his field of engineering close to Boston.

Aside from all his amazing accomplishments, Minh feels prepared for college after his intense preparation at LHS.

Look for Minh’s speech at graduation.
