By Staff Reporters- Have you ever wondered what would happen if teenagers could vote? We polled nearly 100 students at Leominster High School and asked them “If you could vote in this year’s Presidential election, who would you vote for and why?”
Below are some of their responses.
Gabriella Santos, Senior: “I would vote for Kamala because I’m not worried about her taking away my rights as a woman or as a Hispanic person.”
Emily DelGuidice, Junior: “If I could vote I would vote for Kamala Harris for president because my uncle works for the state house, and actually met Kamala and said she was nice and would be a good fit for the role.”
Tyler West, Senior: “I would vote for Kamala Harris because she supports affordable housing which allows teenagers who have minimum wage jobs and single parents who have multiple jobs to afford better housing for them and their loved ones.”
Max Camacho, Junior: “Trump because he is going to increase our production of oil which will decrease gas prices, and he will secure the border.”
Valentina Aguilar, Senior: “Both are questionable options, but I would vote for Kamala because I would like to keep all my rights as a woman.”
Adalie Boisselle, Junior: “I would vote for Kamala Harris for president because it would be good to have a female representative in office.”
Amalie Lupien, Senior: “Kamala!”
Joni Stopyra, Senior: “Lowkey, I’m lesbian, and like, Trump doesn’t care about the gays. Not gonna lie, so yeah, I want my damn rights like the Constitution says I should have no matter who I am or what I identify as.”
Rebecca Dasilva, Junior: Rebecca said she would vote for neither of the candidates, ¨ Trust in Lord and not in a man.¨
Karen Do Amaral, Sophomore: ¨She (Kamala) would be the first woman president and makes some fair points in her debates.¨
Stacey Kwende, Junior: ¨Anyone but him and fear men,” when she says “him,” she is meaning the former president Donald Trump.
Marissa Veino, Senior: “I had a hard choice coming up with this, but I think I’m voting for Donald Trump.”
Ana Lopez, Senior: “If I could vote in this election I would vote for Kamala Harris. She has shown strong leadership since her endorsement and far more intelligence than Donald Trump. She cares for the economy, women and LGBTQ+ rights. No politician is perfect, but I align with her democratic ideas rather than a republican who shows he only cares for himself and not the American people.”
Hailey Bourque, Senior: “I would vote for Kamala Harris because she supports the safety and protection of women’s rights to her own body, and defends Roe V Wade.”
Lochlan Orne, Freshman: “If I had a choice I’d vote for Trump.”
Nicole Sambito, Senior: “Kamala Harris, because of her policies and Trump sucks.”
Dorca Mainga, Junior: “I would vote for Kamala Harris because she is a black empowering woman who is truthful when standing up to Donald Trump. She seemed very persistent and she would keep the United States in shape. She also looks beautiful. I stand up for women.”
Emilio Quintong, Senior: “Kamala, because Trump deports people.”
João Victor da Silva, Sophomore: “I’d vote for Trump because I believe his economic policies, like tax cuts and deregulation, have strengthened the economy and created opportunities for everyone, including legal immigrants like myself. While I understand concerns about immigration, I appreciate his focus on law and order, ensuring that the system is fair for those who follow the rules. His ‘America First’ policies, I feel, also help protect the country’s long-term interests, which ultimately benefit all who live and contribute here legally.”
Darranise Hunter, Senior: “If I could vote, I wouldn’t.”
Celia Blanchard, Senior: “If I could vote, I don’t think I would choose either of those candidates.”
Jacob Fowler, Junior: “I would vote for Donald Trump because his policies are better than Kamala Harris’. He is also a better leader.”
Anthony Muller, Junior: “I would vote for Trump because when he was in office the economy was in a much better state than the economy under Biden and Harris.”
Nikko Taylor, Senior: ¨I would vote for Trump because he is a better fit than Kamala.¨
Braiden Gagne, Sophomore: “I’m voting for Trump. I just don’t want Kamala Harris as president.”
Kyleena Burgos, Freshman: “I’m voting for Kamala Harris ‘cause we need a girl president for once.”
Priscilla Giglio, Junior (Clhoe Thermitus)
Priscilla Giglio, Junior: “If I could vote in the election, I would vote for Trump. I would vote for Trump because he has strong opinions, he is way better for the economy, he’s friends with other big country leaders, he’s a man, and I agree with almost everything he says. I am also for giving minorities opportunities, like when Trump put forward the bill for permanently funding HBCU.”
Angelis Hidalgo (Clhoe Thermitus)
Angelis Hidalgo, Junior: “If I could vote in this election, I would vote for Trump. I vote for Trump because I believe that he has a strong focus on economic growth. Less families will be struggling financially, and the inflation (prices) will come back to their norm. Overall, in my opinion, Trump has many positive goals to better our nation as a whole. The border has become out of control and even in central Massachusetts we are seeing the impact of putting funding towards illegal immigrants over Americans, over veterans.”
Vanessa Duran, Senior: “I personally would vote for Kamala Harris because, although I am not involved in politics, I know one thing for sure: she is not a convicted felon. If America is going to move forward, they need someone who can set a good example for all the citizens.”
Stephanie Agyeiwaa (Noah Lee)
Stephanie Agyeiwaa, Senior: “If I could vote, I would vote for Kamala because she is way better than Trump.”
Mia Torres, Junior: “I would vote for Kamala Harris because she stands for and supports the same values and rights I believe in and want to protect.”
Lucas Souza, Senior:“Kamala doesn’t know what she’s saying most of the time. If I turned 18 a month earlier, I would vote for Trump.”
Luz Gonzales, Senior: “I would a hundred billion percent vote for Kamala Harris because she actually knows what she wants and cares for the people. She’s more woke than Trump and many people actually support her.”
Amara Francis, Junior: “I would vote for Trump because I think he can change the country and lower tax prices and gas money while caring for our grandparents, and he wants those lights turned off.”
Jack Dadah, Senior: “I don’t think Trump’s gonna win, but I would vote for him.”
Mya Macmiller, Junior: “I would vote for Kamala because really, I feel like we have the same morals and (the) same kind of goals and dreams for our country. I think that she speaks a lot for LGBTQ rights and she has spoken a lot of stuff in the past about stuff like racism and stuff like that as well and a lot about women’s rights and that’s very important to me. I also like her vice president pick as well. Waltz, I believe. I like that he is so outspoken about veterans and their mental health as well.”
Marven Dor
Marven Dor, Junior: I would vote for no one or Kamala Harris.”
Naomy Roque, Senior: “I would vote for Kamala Harris.”
Ebenz Edouard, Junior: “I would vote for Kamala Harris because she is just better in my opinion, because she is not racist.”
Brandon Ashley, Junior: “Kamala Harris because she is a safer option for our country whereas Trump would use the office position for his personal gain. As well as his spread of misinformation- it isn’t a quality of a leader that I would vote for.”
Nathaniel Anim, Junior: “I will not vote for anyone because politics are corrupted.”
Dominic Cruickshank, Junior: “I will vote for Donald Trump because the economy is bad right now. I am looking out for my future,” he said adding that he thinks Trump is better for the position.
Desmond Batchelder, Junior: “I would vote for Kamala Harris because my views are more in line with her policies than those of Trump’s.
Luke Grebinar, Senior: “Trump. My family is a Republican family.”
Kauan Oliveira (Margaret Keefe)
Kauan Oliveira, Junior: “Imma go with my dad, so Trump.”
