This coming June, a familiar presence in B-Wing will walk the halls of Leominster High School for the last time.
Mrs. Connie Gramit has been a teacher at this high school for the past 14 years. Her career goes way back to 1980 when she first became a teacher.
Mrs. Gramit’s last day will be June 30th. She’s onto a new career which she will not be disclosing yet.
She plans on beginning a new journey and although we don’t know all the details, it will include traveling around Europe.
One of our Assistant Principals, Leah Burns said of Gramit, “Mrs. Gramit has been a dedicated and enthusiastic educator and member of our Foreign Languages Department here since 2010 and her presence will be greatly missed. She cares deeply about her students and does a wonderful job exposing them to the French language and culture. Her shoes will be hard to fill.”
In her years here, she has led students on trips to France.
LHS sophomore Joshua Ighodaro said, “Mrs. Gramit is a helpful teacher, outside and inside the classroom. She is a very kind person in general.”
In her 14 years, Gramit has inspired and impacted many students including myself. One memory that comes to mind when thinking of her was from my sophomore year. She held a big feast with all the students and their native foods. We ate and shared stories during that class period.
One quote Gramit would like to be remembered by is by CS Lewis who once said “The task of the modern educator is not to cut down jungles, but to irrigate deserts.”
Gramit said, “Feed the students, water their souls, to reach for the love of learning because your education isn’t over when you graduate from high school, it’s a lifelong journey. A lifelong endeavor to keep learning and your soul evolves as your personality and character changes, as you have life lessons and experiences.”
Gramit taught me that there is always more to learn, more to do, and more to see. She will be missed.
