Under bright skies and the buzzing energy of friends, family, and faculty, the Class of 2025 officially closed the chapter on their high school careers with a memorable graduation ceremony on June 1st at Doyle Field.
A dedication of a total of 4 years of hard work and growth. This ceremony was live-streamed for people who couldn’t go in person. Applauded achievements, speeches, and emotions were all over the place as the Leominster High Seniors were celebrated for their accomplishments.
This event was held live at Doyle Field.
Graduates were supposed to be at the venue by 8 AM for the ceremony that began at 10 AM. By 10 AM the bleachers were filled with proud parents and friends.
The ceremony opened with remarks from Principal Dr. Joshua Romano, who praised the class’s resilience, growth, and the legacy they’ll leave behind. “You’ve lived through challenges that shaped you into a class of leaders,” he said. “Now, it’s your turn to go shape the world.”
The family of Jochim Kofi Agyei, a member of the Class of 2025 who passed away before he was able to complete his final studies at Leominster High School was also acknowledged. An honorary diploma was given to his family. A moment of silence was held in his honor and a yearbook signed by the class of 2025 was then presented to Jochim’s family.
Mayor Dean Mazzarella had a message for the parents: “Love your kids no matter what, these are all good young adults and they have a whole path in front of them and you might not always agree with them but always love them.”
Current and past veterans in the crowd were recognized. Then the mayor gave a message to the graduates
“Remember to be kind, be generous when you can. Be nice, be patient, be well, careful, thoughtful, graceful, and remember, of all the places that you will go and all of the things that you will see, you will always have a home here at 01453. Thank you and good luck.”
LHS Class Valedictorian Margaret (Maggie) Leighton, who will be attending Harvard University in the fall to study human development and regenerative biology, gave a piece of advice.
“Take pride in those passions, keep learning, keep showing up, and when the world says something is impossible and just simply can’t be done, smile, turn around, and prove them wrong. When we leave here today, we build, create, teach, or lead, let’s do it with heart. Let’s do it with purpose. And let’s start right now, not someday.”
She added “Walk into tomorrow like you own it,” earning cheers and a few teary smiles.
The CTEi Valedictorian Carson Wilbur also gave a speech, saying “One day at a time. After today we are thrown into life whether we are ready for it or not and right now most of us are thinking way ahead. Whether it’s college, starting a career, or even starting a family down the road,” then he added “it’s all very scary and exciting things and they do matter. But sometimes, when we look too far forward, we miss the things that are right in front of us.”
The President of the Class of 2025 Darranise Hunter alongside Roy Mwangi, President of the Class of 2026, presented the class gift.
A bench was gifted to LHS Dean Barry Hudson for his impact on the lives of the Class of 2025.
The class song “ Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell was sung by the LHS chorus.
Students were then called in alphabetical order to the stage to be awarded their diplomas.
