2” in New York City.

The show is based on a section of the book War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy. The story is about a girl, Natasha, from Russia who is engaged to someone who goes off to war and is later seduced by another man.

The show stars recording artist Josh Groban in his Broadway debut, and Denee Benton who has toured in the Book of Mormon.

Basset performed in Broadway Sessions on March 9th and was a member of the off-Broadway show Bedbugs before joining The Great Comet.

As a student at LHS, Basset was a fixture in the theater classes under LHS Theater teacher Andrea Mastroianni.

“It’s amazing. I’m excited and so happy for her!” said Mastroianni, of her student making it to Broadway.  “She was a huge part of theater for all four years and it’s great to see her at a high level.”

Mastroianna took 16 of her students to New York during February vacation to see the show.
