LEOMINSTER THEATRE COMPANY MAKES IT TO SEMI FINALS WITH BFG

On Saturday, March 4, 2017, the Leominster Theatre Company hosted the Preliminary Round of the Massachusetts Educational Theatre Guild Competition here at LHS in the auditorium.

Leominster’s Theatre Company blew away the judges with their performance of The Big Friendly Giant written by Roald Dahl in comparison to the 8 other schools they were competing against, awarding them the opportunity to move on to the semi-finals.

The cast and crew were awarded 5 individual awards including set design, puppet design, puppet execution, acting by LHS senior Hannah Normile, and    acting by LHS junior Ryan Hartman and LHS senior Xander Viera as a duo.

Actress, Hannah Normile, who played the Queen of England said, “We were ecstatic because Friday after rehearsal we didn’t feel very confident and when they called our school name to move on for semis we were all crying and hugging. It was so surreal.”

Andréa Mastroianni directed the BFG alongside Assistant Director LHS senior Kaitlyn Doyle.

While the play did not move on past semi’s the company took home 3 awards.

Excellence in Acting for the role of The Queen – Hannah Normile.

Excellence in Puppet Design – Rebecca Lambert.
