EDITORS NOTE: WHILE THE SCHOOL IS SHUTDOWN, THE TEAM AT THE DEVIL’S ADVOCATE WILL CONTINUE TO UPDATE THE CLASS WITH STORIES AND EDITORIALS ABOUT THE CONCERNS FACING THE STUDENTS OF LHS.

COVID-19, also known as the coronavirus, has affected everyone worldwide, whether it is people taking precautionary measures to protect themselves from it, or to people actually having the illness.

It’s even affected little towns like us. Leominster is currently on alert.

People are stocking up on household items in fear of being quarantined and not being able to leave to get these household items. If you are to go into a store like Walmart, there are no paper towels or toilet paper to be found.

All cleaning supplies are wiped clean off the store shelves.

Water and food are limited now because of people who take more of what they actually need.

Public areas are closing like the courthouse and schools.

Many LHS students are excited to have three weeks off, but some are upset as they are missing out on activities and a normal year.

Seniors are more upset as it is their last year and many sports they have worked hard for are being cancelled.

Sports are being postponed until further notice.

Many seniors are also worried of their graduation date having to be pushed back and other senior festivities like prom, and beach week.

A lot of students also feel there won’t be a summer this year as everything is closing and flights are cancelled for vacationing to areas that are more common to be a vacation trip.

Students now have to take online classes which are another issue as some students learn differently than others and might need a classroom setting to be able to succeed in their schoolwork.

Many issues can occur with the online system of learning. Miscommunications could occur between assignments and the teachers and students.

However the schools are doing their best and all the hard work from the staff at the schools and the administrators  is greatly appreciated.
