Seniors and sophomores in the Health Occupations program at Leominster High School CTEi are taking meaningful steps towards having the skill set to save a life by earning their CPR and First Aid certifications.
The seniors were certified on March 26, followed by sophomores on April 10, marking an important step in their training.
The certification sessions were led by Catherine Gaudet, Nurse Leader of Leominster Public Schools, with support from the Health Occupations teacher, Jeanne Ordway. Together, they guided students through hands-on training in CPR and first aid techniques.
“Ms. Gaudet was very helpful with CPR training and really helped prepare us for a real-life situation,” said senior Ila Roemmele.
This training not only supports students pursuing careers in the healthcare field but also equips them with life-saving skills they can use in real-life emergencies.

The certification builds helpful skills for those going into health-related fields but also prepares them for any real-life emergencies.
“They all were fantastic,” said Ordway. “I would trust them to do CPR on me. They are quite capable.”
The students themselves felt empowered by the experience– “We feel very prepared to help save someone’s life in case of an emergency, “ said senior Adriana Buteyn
Thanks to the hands-on instructions and supportive teaching staff, seniors and sophomores are now more prepared to make a positive impact in both healthcare and their communities.
Health Occupations is one of over a dozen shops offered at LHS CTEi. Students earn their CNA and other health certifications over their 4 years of training.
