On Tuesday, May 14, the Vietnam Veterans of America held a ceremony at Carter Park for 8 seniors receiving scholarships.
The seniors who received a scholarship were Lily Rice, Nina Marchetti, Alaina Garcia, Taylor Crowley, Sam Eichmann, Victoria Miele, Keaton St. Laurent, and Tyler Witzgall.
The ceremony started at 6 PM and began with the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem being sung.
Each student was called up to shake the veterans hands and to receive their scholarship.
The VVA drew their raffle winners during the ceremony.
All profits from the raffle went towards the money awarded in the scholarships.
The students were awarded scholarships that ranged from $700 to $1000.
After the ceremony, the students mingled over refreshments.
