Leominster’s Main Street is packed with loads of options for food. From fast food joints like Subway, to some of the finest restaurants in the area like Brady’s, there are certainly lots of options.
One restaurant that many people miss, however, is Sookie’s Burgers and Fried Chicken, located just down the road from Monument Square. I recently paid a visit to the restaurant to see what it was like.
The exterior of the building isn’t anything special. It was clear that the building used to be an old fast-food restaurant that had shut down and been renovated. The parking lot was a little confusing and there were very few parking spaces, but also very few cars so it wasn’t an issue.
The interior of the restaurant was average. As you walk in, there is a small dining area to the left, and a counter to place your order to the right. Everything seemed clean, but there wasn’t much decor to contribute to the atmosphere, and it felt outdated. All the tables and chairs were wood and plastic, and there wasn’t much room on the tables as they were quite small.
But where this restaurant lacks in appearance, it more than makes up for in its cuisine.
Although “Burgers and Fried Chicken” is in the name, that is certainly not all they offer at Sookie’s. The options on the menu were overwhelming at first. The variety of items was fascinating, and included entrees like burgers, subs, wings, tacos, quesadillas, seafood, fried chicken, soups and more.
It was hard to choose what to order, as almost everything on the menu sounded delicious.
I ended up ordering the Rodeo Burger, which is a burger topped with cheddar cheese, bacon, onion rings and BBQ sauce with a side of fries. A friend of mine that came along ordered fish and chips.
Both meals came with a soda with free refills. Our food arrived at our table quickly, and it appeared that the prices were very reasonable for the portion sizes.
The burger was delicious, and all the ingredients tasted fresh. The flavors blended together perfectly for a great product. It tasted like a burger a family member would have prepared at a cookout. It seemed like someone had put a lot of love into it, and it left me with a warm feeling that usually only homemade comfort food can deliver.
If you are ever craving delicious comfort food for a fair price, I would definitely recommend visiting Sookie’s. There is bound to be something for everyone on the menu, and I guarantee you will not leave hungry.
Sookie’s also offers pickup and delivery service in case you need to grab a bite on the go, or if you want to enjoy your food in the comfort of your own home.
Overall, I would give Sookie’s Burgers and Fried Chicken 4/5 stars, and would certainly plan on visiting again.

What about the fish and chips?
