Don’t let the snow on the field around Doyle fool you. The Leominster High School baseball season it about ready to play ball and this year’s team is prepared for the upcoming season and ready to play with determination and grit.
The LHS Baseball team’s head coach, Richard Barnaby, is eager to have a strong start to the season. He has been the head coach at LHS for 13 years after first accepting the position in 2013.
Most players have been working hard in the off-season in hopes of a focused and hustle-filled season.
Coach Barnaby said, “As we look ahead to the start of the baseball season in just a few weeks, our entire program is filled with excitement and anticipation. The offseason has been incredibly productive, and our players have put in countless hours of hard work preparing for the challenges ahead.”
Last year, the team made it to the final four in their division. They are looking to be strong again this year.

Barnaby explained, “Their dedication in the weight room, in practice, and throughout the offseason has positioned us well for what we believe will be another special year.”
Barnaby talked of certain returning players that will most likely continue to be standouts this upcoming season.
“We enter this season with high hopes of competing for another championship. Our returning seniors, Mark Garner, Sawyer Corbin, Danny Nelson, Ian Aronow, and Nick Lamey will provide outstanding leadership and invaluable experience. Their commitment to the program and understanding of what it takes to win will set the tone for our team both on and off the field.”
Coach Barnaby has high hopes for the upcoming underclassmen as well, and is excited to see how they perform when it comes time for their first game.
“At the same time, we are excited about the impact our younger players will bring. Richie Barnaby, Jackson Mazzaferro, and Ricco Lora have shown tremendous growth and energy, and we expect them to play key roles this season. Their enthusiasm and talent add an exciting dynamic to an already strong roster,” said Barnaby.
Barnaby then said, “We are proud of the work our team has put in and are eager to see it translate onto the field. We can’t wait for the season to begin and for our community to come out and support what promises to be an exciting year of baseball.”
