I was recently given the opportunity to try Appleseeds Restaurant at CTEi to see how the high school chefs measure up to the real world chefs.

Appleseeds now has a pizza oven. When I tried the tomato and cheese pizza for $6. The crust was warm and slightly crispy on the outside, yet soft on the inside. The cheese was completely melted and very creamy with a salty flavor that paired perfectly with the tomato sauce. The sauce had a light taste; every bite was soft and full of flavor. The cheese stretched when I lifted the slice. Overall, it tasted delicious.
Next, I tried the bone-in pork sirloin chop for 11.50. The meat was cooked perfectly, tender, and juicy. Something I really liked was that the flavor was just right, not too salty, not too sweet. The gravy on top was delicious and enhanced the dish. If I had to mention the presentation, I’d say it looked spectacular; the meat on the bone added a nice touch. The side of fingerling potatoes had a soft texture inside and paired well with the rest of the dish. I also tried the cauliflower au gratin, which was baked with a creamy cheese sauce. The cheese added a richer flavor and made the dish feel more complete.
To drink, I tried the Refreshers. There was strawberry, passion fruit, and dragon fruit refreshers. They were light and refreshing drinks with a fruity flavor that helped balance the meal.
Finally, I tried the banana cake for dessert. The cake was very soft and fluffy, making it easy to eat and very enjoyable. It had a cream topping that added a special touch to the flavor. The cream was smooth and creamy, and it paired perfectly with the sweetness of the banana cake. It wasn’t too sweet; it was just right, making the dessert feel balanced and delicious. It was a great way to end the meal. It was light, but full of flavor.
Appleseeds Restaurant is open to the public from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This week they were open Wednesday through Friday. But the days are subject to change, so check first by calling or going online.
