The blockbuster film Wicked: For Good, produced by Marc Platt and David Stone, and starring Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Jonathan Bailey, and many more, is just as good as people said.
It continues the story of Elphaba and Glinda as they grow and find themselves. Elphaba is depicted as a rebel, while Glinda is perceived as a goody-two-shoes.
The film explores how their choices shape their futures, all while Oz faces many challenges and tensions. The plot and acting is just perfect and so fitting, everything flowed together. I was able to sit and watch it without interruptions or getting distracted.
The expectations were high for this film ever since the previous one “hit it out of the ballpark.”
The filming quality is one of the movie’s strongest features, and the atmosphere makes it feel as if you are right there with the characters. You can tell they used their money towards the right elements, and it shows in the filming quality. Every shot feels intentional, and the cinematography’s bright, bold colors capture the audience’s attention.
The lighting also contributes, casting strong shadows and having a strong effect on emotions and feelings. The darker the shadow or harsher the light, the gloomier the scene; whereas, the brighter and bolder the lights and shadows, the more upbeat and happy the scene is.
The acting was phenomenal, along with the soundtrack. Grande’s experience in acting and singing heightened the experience. Her acting was not only amazing and extremely believable, but her vocals were exceptional. She has everything a musical needs and the viewers want, so she was the perfect choice for the role of Glinda.
Erivo’s vocals and acting skills, along with techniques, tie together perfectly with Grande’s, making the musical/movie so much more powerful. Their voices blend perfectly, and they work so well together on the stage.
Bailey’s acting as Fiyero was a mix of sincerity, nonchalantness, and coolness. He had amazing chemistry with both leads, which adds to the plot, making you want to know what the outcome is like. He’s extremely confident in the movie. His whole persona blends perfectly with the other leads.
The plot of the movie was the best part, if I do say so myself. I personally love it because it mixes adventure, suspense, and romance. I liked how diverse the plot was and how it didn’t focus on only one thing.
The emotions were strong, and feelings were there. It didn’t rush into anything, which I found nice.
It was a slow build-up to everything and every event that took place.
This film was one of the best I’ve ever seen, and my love for all of the actors and actresses only contributed to it.
This is definitely a film that you can watch ten times and still be on the edge of your seat, just like the original film.
I can strongly recommend this film to anyone. It combines so many different genres that it makes it watchable for all.
If you haven’t seen the first one, don’t worry. I watched this with friends who had not seen the first film. They understood the sequel perfectly because it includes background info and context as to what happened.
I would say yes, it is pretty understandable for those who have not seen the first.
I’d bravely give it a 5 out of 5 munchkins and suggest that you go to your nearest cinema and watch it, whether alone or with a group.
